Each summer the National Coast Guard Museum Association is honored to sponsor a Congressional Breakfast to provide an in-depth update on the museum and hear from our federal delegation and Coast Guard leadership about the tremendous impact this museum will have on the service, the state, and the entire nation.

OpSail Connecticut hosts this festival in the Port of New London annually to celebrate the sea and give visitors the opportunity to interact with those who work on, under, or with the sea.
USCGC BARQUE EAGLE (WIX 327)
The USCGC Eagle is used as a training ship for Coast Guard Academy cadets. The ship offers future officers the opportunity to put into practice the navigation, engineering, and professional theory learned in the classroom. Upper-class cadets exercise leadership and perform the duties normally handled by junior officers, while under-class cadets fill the positions of junior enlisted crewmembers. The experience builds character and helps future officers develop leadership and teamwork skills that prove valuable throughout their careers. A permanent crew of eight officers and 50 enlisted personnel maintain the ship year-round and provide a strong base of knowledge and seamanship for the training of up to 150 cadets or officer candidates at a time.
USCGC IDA LEWIS (WLM 551)
Homeported in Newport, Rhode Island, USCGC Ida Lewis’s area of responsibility spans from Long Island Sound to Cape Cod. Ida Lewis is responsible for a total of 374 aids to navigation (channel markers, buoys, lighthouses, etc.). In addition to cutter’s primary mission of aids to navigation, Ida Lewis also conducts search and rescue; domestic icebreaking; and ports, waterways, and coastal security operations.
